In Mykolaiv, a Volkswagen fatally struck a pedestrian

On Sunday, December 22, around 8:00 PM, on the highway "Mykolaiv – Ochakiv," near the turn to Ochakiv, the driver of a Volkswagen Transporter hit a man who was crossing the road at an unspecified location. The 60-year-old pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased.

This information is reported by the Mykolaiv Police Communication Department.

In connection with this incident, investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, "Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles by persons managing means of transportation, resulting in the death of the victim." The penalty for this article can be up to eight years in prison.

Police investigators are determining the circumstances and causes of the incident.
