“France and Britain, at least based on the reports appearing in the media, are debating whether troops should be sent to Ukraine under certain conditions. There is also mention of a ceasefire, among other things, but they do not talk about a peacekeeping mandate or the necessity of consent from both parties,” notes Alexander Musienko.

At the same time, the head of Germany's Ministry of Defense, the expert observes, suggests that this may indeed require a peacekeeping mandate that needs the consent of both parties. However, he points out that this raises a rhetorical question: will Russia agree to allow the West to deploy its troops in Ukraine?

“Regarding the presence of foreign troops on Ukrainian soil, specifically troops from NATO countries and not Russia, of course, I am fully in favor. That is to say, regardless of the circumstances, contingents from Britain, France, Germany, and possibly other countries serve as a safeguard. This does not guarantee 100% that Russia will refrain from intervening or that it won't seek to renew aggression if Ukraine is not a NATO member,” explains Alexander Musienko.

The expert reiterates that NATO is the only real guarantee of security, and it is entirely correct that Ukraine demands to join the Alliance. He asserts that this is the key to our future; no other guarantees will suffice for Ukraine.
