The leak of confidential internal information by former detective Denisyuk has exposed a deep crisis currently prevailing today within the Bureau, casting doubt on the entire anti-corruption system of the state, – wrote political expert Oleg Posternak in his blog.

“The case involving Denisyuk is a striking example of how one person's unprofessionalism can, with a single act, reveal the chaos, disorder, and lawlessness within an agency that was supposed to be a model of Ukrainian anti-corruption. Yet it never became one, and it is unlikely to ever become one. Another scandal involving the Bureau indicates a more systemic crisis that undermines the entire anti-corruption framework of the state. Consequently, donor countries to Ukraine are understandably questioning: how are their funds being utilized, and can they trust Ukrainian anti-corruption institutions at all?” – Posternak stated.

He reminded that just a few days ago, detective Denisyuk publicly accused NABU of leaking investigations related to drone procurement.

“The detective publicly disclosed internal information, which has definitively discredited the Bureau. According to representatives of the legal community, such an outburst from the detective is an attempt to mask NABU's failures and its lack of effective investigations into corruption in the security and defense sectors, as well as many other areas of their competence,” – the expert reported.

According to him, irreversible processes within NABU were triggered, in particular, by the victory of Republican Trump in the U.S. elections.

“The team of the new head of America remembers well the statements of Ukrainian MPs, which claimed that the former NABU director Mr. Sytnyk intervened in the U.S. presidential election process in 2016 on behalf of Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton. Throughout Biden's presidency, NABU relied on honest American assurances and the support of Ukrainian grant recipients. After the change of power in the U.S., noticeable irreversible movements began within NABU. The Bureau has become significantly leaky. What was once known only to a small circle now flows out: incompetence, favoritism, leaks of confidential information, and so on,” – he declared.

As for Denisyuk himself, the expert believes he has begun to engage in politics. Moreover, according to his information, the former detective is reportedly saying in conversations that he plans to become the director of NABU.

“Denisyuk openly admits that he is unable to handle the job and is seeking a position as an assistant to the chairperson of the anti-corruption committee of the Verkhovna Rada, deputy Anastasia Radina. Deputy Radina is a former employee of the CBU (Shabunin), who is supposed to oversee NABU. Instead, she is involved in the employment of NABU staff. In other words, instead of oversight and integrity, we have some sort of anti-corruption 'Swedish family',” – Posternak reported.

As reported, former NABU detective Andriy Denisyuk sent a letter to his colleagues, in which he cited the “leak” of investigations into drone procurement as the reason for his dismissal.

Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigations registered a criminal case against NABU director Semen Kryvonos and his deputy Polina Lysenko for manipulations during the competition for leadership positions in one of the Bureau's departments.
