Российский суд приговорил мэра Днепра Филатова к 9 годам колонии за публикацию в Facebook.

According to a report from the Telegram channel of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office, the Basmanny District Court of the capital has sentenced the mayor of the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, Boris Filatov, in absentia to nine years in a penal colony for "spreading hatred and disseminating fakes about the Russian army."

The case regarding the incitement of hatred is linked to a social media post by Filatov calling for the killing of Russians.

The post appeared on Facebook and Telegram in April 2022, when the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered Bucha in the Kyiv region, which had been occupied by the Russian army for a month prior.

Media outlets published photographs of murdered civilians in the streets of the city.

At that time, Filatov stated that Ukrainians had a moral right to kill these inhuman beings around the world.

Later, this post was deleted.

Background. It is worth noting that in October 2024, a Russian court sentenced film producer Rodnyansky to 8 years in prison – in absentia. He was accused of spreading "military fakes" after he referred to Russians as invaders.
