According to the expert, Russians in Donbas are making progress, which indicates that there are issues within the Ukrainian army, particularly regarding the morale and combat effectiveness of certain units and individual soldiers. Specifically, he notes that in a unit of 10 people, 3-4 have been mobilized, and we know how mobilization works, which means they have a weak motivational component and do not want to fight.

“Instead of conducting mobilization as it should be done, following the laws and practices developed over centuries, we decided to take measures reminiscent of the Oprichnina and Bolshevism, doing it by force,” emphasizes Oleg Starikov.

As he explains, a unit of 10 people holds, for example, a section of 100 meters, and since 3-4 of them lack any motivation to fight, no one is holding the remaining 30-40 meters, leaving that area unprotected, and the enemy advances. Additionally, the guest of the program points out that another issue is that the soldier staffing is not at 100%.

“I am currently just analyzing. Because there are very few instances of surrendering, yet the enemy is advancing. This means either we lack a solid defense system, or where the enemy has breached, we do not have operational and strategic reserves to stabilize that gap or situation. Or thirdly – they simply take off and leave. I am putting forward my versions, just versions, but there are no other explanations during combat operations,” concludes Oleg Starikov.
