An important scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage in wartime was held at the National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve "Pereyaslav." Public figure Nikolai Tomenko shared this information on Facebook reported.
“The challenges of protecting, conserving, and restoring historical and cultural heritage during a state of war are issues that cannot be overlooked,” he emphasized.
The event was attended by scholars from the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA), led by Rector Alexey Dneprov. The delegation visited the reserve and learned about the research, restoration, and educational projects being implemented there.
One of the main topics of discussion was the conservation and restoration of the Ascension Cathedral – a unique monument funded by Ivan Mazepa and depicted by Taras Shevchenko. KNUCA specialists agreed to provide consulting assistance in this process.
Additionally, students from the architecture faculty will have the opportunity to intern at the reserve and study the work of the renowned architect Vladimir Zabolotny. The Faculty of Geoinformation Systems at KNUCA will also participate in digitizing the historical and architectural objects of Pereyaslav.
“We remember our history! We study and protect our historical and cultural heritage!” Tomenko emphasized, noting that during wartime, the preservation of cultural monuments takes on special significance.
