The Constitutional Court of Romania has annulled the results of the first round of the presidential elections.

This was reported by News.ro.

It is noted that the judges made this decision after an urgent meeting where requests to cancel the first round were discussed.

“The court cancels the entire electoral process concerning the presidential elections in Romania based on point f of Article 146 of the Constitution,” the court stated.

According to the publication, the requests cited declassified documents indicating that the campaign of pro-Russian candidate Calin Georgescu was the result of organized manipulation from outside Romania.

It is mentioned that the government will set a new election date, and the electoral process will be fully restored.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the court in Romania ordered a recount of voter ballots following the unexpected victory of a pro-Russian and pro-fascist candidate. The Defense Council pointed out that attempts were made to influence the election through cyberattacks and suggested that Russia might be behind this.
