The Kostiopil District Court issued a verdict against a local resident for the corruption of a minor girl. The accused demanded intimate photos from the child and, during a meeting, touched her private parts. Since the man committed the crime while on probation, he received an eight-year prison sentence.
According to the verdict dated January 24, the accused had been communicating via Viber with the minor girl from December 6 to 23, 2023. The man insisted on exchanging intimate photographs, and when he received them, he saved them on his phone as child pornography. Additionally, during one of their meetings, the defendant undressed both himself and the victim and then touched the minor with his genitals.
In court, the accused admitted his guilt. He explained that in September 2023, he visited a classmate's house where he met her daughter. Sometimes, at the woman's request, he would take care of the girl and play with her. According to the man, the minor allegedly started sending him intimate photographs first and asked him to do the same. The accused claims that he did not engage in any sexual acts, only communicated and exchanged photos.
The girl's mother confirmed that her former classmate occasionally helped her with the children, and her older daughter visited him. The woman learned about the crime when she took her daughter's phone and saw the messages containing explicit photos and videos. When the child revealed everything, she reported it to the police.
Judge Oleksandr Tsvyrkun found the resident of Rivne region guilty under Part 2 of Article 156, Part 2 of Article 301, and Part 1 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (corruption of minors, possession, and distribution of pornography). Since the man was already on probation for evading mobilization, he received an eight-year sentence instead of seven years in prison. Furthermore, the accused is required to pay the victim 200,000 UAH in moral compensation. The decision can still be appealed in the appellate court.
