Zelensky accused Slovak Prime Minister Fico of wanting to assist Putin.

"They fear the public's reaction," stated the president.
Зеленский обвинил премьер-министра Словакии Фицо в стремлении помочь Путину.

President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico for his trip to Russia to meet with Putin.

According to the head of state, wrote on social media platform X.

“It is worth noting that after the meeting in Moscow, Fico and Putin did not make any joint statements and did not answer questions from the media. They simply cannot publicly disclose what they discussed during the meeting. They fear the public reaction,” the president stated.

He emphasized that Moscow is offering “significant discounts” to Fico, but Slovakia is the one paying for them. According to him, such discounts are not free – they are paid for with sovereignty or through shadow schemes. “This should concern Slovak law enforcement and intelligence agencies,” Zelensky added.

He also noted that the details of this kind of financing were revealed during a recent meeting of European leaders in Brussels.

According to the president, at the recent meeting, EU leaders mentioned that Fico does not want to participate in joint European efforts toward energy independence, but rather “wants to help Russia push American gas and energy resources from other partners out of Europe.”

“This means he wants to assist Putin in making money to fund the war and weaken Europe. We are losing people due to the war that Putin started, and we believe that such assistance to Putin is immoral,” the head of state stressed.

He added that Fico has rejected compensation that could help eliminate dependency. According to Zelensky, Slovakia earns $500 million a year from Russian gas and the same amount from Russian oil, “which benefits Mr. Fico.”

“Thus, his main goal is to do business with Russia, and that is what is advantageous for him. This is truly a significant security issue for both Slovakia and all of Europe. Why is this leader so dependent on Moscow? What is he being paid with and what does he pay in return?” the president questioned.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Fico stated he went to see Putin “due to Zelensky's words.” He discussed with the dictator the transit of Russian gas and “peaceful resolution” of the war.
