Zelensky mentioned that Scholz had warned him about his intention to call the Russian dictator. "Now there may be other conversations, other calls. Just a lot of words. Additionally, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reacted to the German Chancellor's phone call to Putin, stating that "conversations with the Russian dictator do not bring any added value for achieving a just peace."

"Concrete strong actions are needed to compel him to peace, rather than pleas and attempts at appeasement, which he perceives as a sign of weakness and uses for his own purposes. The specific actions are known – and that is primarily the withdrawal of the occupier's troops from the territory of Ukraine," the ministry stated.
