Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and now Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, stated that the direct involvement of Russia's allies, such as Iran, China, and North Korea, in the war against Ukraine indicates the onset of World War III.
He expressed this opinion at the annual UP 100 award ceremony organized by the publication "Ukrainska Pravda".
"In 2024, we can definitely consider that World War III has begun. Because in 2024, Ukraine is facing not just Russia. Ukraine is facing soldiers from North Korea," Zaluzhnyi noted.
He emphasized that innocent civilians in Ukraine are dying daily from strikes by Iranian "Shahed" drones, North Korean missiles, and Chinese munitions.
Moreover, Russian missiles contain components manufactured in China.
"Many military personnel would agree: all of this is a sign of a world war. And the world must prepare for it," the diplomat added.
He stressed that it is still not too late to stop the conflict on Ukrainian territory, but Kyiv's partners "do not realize this":
"What we have been waiting for has already begun. But I want to say that God Himself is giving a chance not only to Ukraine but to the whole world to make the right conclusions now."
According to the former commander, Ukraine is currently facing "a multitude of enemies," but he hopes that modern technologies will help the country endure.
At the same time, it is unclear whether Kyiv can win "this battle" without the help of the international community, Zaluzhnyi emphasized:
"Therefore, I believe that a world war has started, welcome."
