According to the American publication Axios, the expert explains that the decision was made three days ago, and Ukraine was aware of it. Thus, he speculates, it seems that we obviously have ATACMS missiles, and they were supplied to Ukraine earlier; only the quantity remains unknown.
In 2023, the expert recalls, there were discussions about transferring hundreds of ATACMS to Ukraine; however, back then, it was about missiles with cluster munitions with a range of 165 km. Various media estimate, he notes, that as of 2024, the U.S. may have over 2,500 missiles in different conditions and versions, of which 1,500 are new. Additionally, the expert mentions that Sullivan stated the U.S. has transferred a significant number of ATACMS to Ukraine and plans to provide more.
“If there could be 2,500, then if Ukraine receives 100 missiles, for example, this will not significantly diminish the defensive capabilities of the United States; rather, it will substantially enhance them, as it also protects European interests and American interests in Europe. So they can certainly afford such a quantity. What has been transferred remains undisclosed, but I hope it is a significant amount,” concludes Alexander Musienko.
