In the Ukrainian language, you often encounter two forms of writing – "якраз" and "як раз." However, not everyone is aware of the correct usage of these words in conversation and when to use them. We clarify when to write this word as one and when to write it separately.
According to Ukrainian spelling rules, "якраз" is an adverb that answers the question "when?" and specifies when an action takes place. It is written as one word. However, many people mistakenly write it separately as "як раз," which is an error. The reason for this mistake is quite simple: in Russian, the equivalent of the Ukrainian "якраз" is written separately as "как раз."
The variant "як раз" is rarely used in contemporary Ukrainian, primarily appearing in the fixed expression – "як раз і назавжди."
