NEC "Ukrenergo" has received €86 million in financial support from the European Investment Bank. The funds will be allocated for the construction of anti-drone protection at substations, the company reported on Monday, December 23, through its press service.
The Acting Chairman of the Board of NEC "Ukrenergo," Oleksiy Brekht, stated that the allocated funds will be used to build anti-drone defenses at key substations in the electricity transmission system. This protection will help ensure stable energy supply for both the population and businesses.
"The effectiveness of already implemented projects has been proven, particularly during the recent massive missile and drone strikes in November-December. The construction of protective measures is ongoing. The more substations we manage to protect, the more resilient the Ukrainian energy system will be, and the lower the risk of forced outages for consumers," noted Oleksiy Brekht.
The company's press service reported that since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Investment Bank has allocated a total of €136 million to support the Ukrainian energy sector.
It is worth recalling that on December 17, amid massive shelling of Ukrainian energy infrastructure by Russia, the United Kingdom urgently allocated £35 million to Ukraine. £20 million will be designated for "emergency energy needs" and support for repair works, while €15 million will be allocated for humanitarian assistance.
