President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Major Andrii Tupikov as the head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, which is responsible for counteracting the activities of foreign intelligence services and other foreign organizations within Ukraine. This is stated in the relevant decree dated December 31.
Previously, this position was held by Major General Oleksandr Poklad, who was appointed as the Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine in August 2023.
There is little information available about the newly appointed head of SBU counterintelligence. Major Andrii Tupikov worked within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and in 2015 he was awarded the Order of Daniel of Galicia for his personal courage and heroism demonstrated in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as his loyalty to the military oath during combat operations and while carrying out his official duties.
