Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed a new head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Timur Tkachenko has taken over the leadership of the Kyiv Military Administration instead of Serhiy Popko.

President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Serhiy Popko from his position as the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. The relevant decree was published on December 31 on the president's official website.

In another decree, Zelensky appointed Timur Tkachenko to this position. The reasons for the personnel changes have not been disclosed.

The 35-year-old Timur Tkachenko previously served as the Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries and as the Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development, as well as the Director of the Territorial Control Department of the Kyiv City Military Administration. Additionally, he is a current member of the Supervisory Board of "Ukrposhta".

Colonel General Serhiy Popko has led the Kyiv City Military Administration since October 2022. Prior to that, he was the Commander of the Ground Forces from March 2016 and previously headed the Main Command Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Staff, serving as the acting commander of the Joint Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
