On Monday, December 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Supreme Commander’s Staff and received a report on the situation across various fronts, particularly in the Kursk direction, where North Korean soldiers are involved. According to the president, military casualties from North Korea in Kursk have already exceeded 3000 individuals.
Volodymyr Zelensky reported that there are risks of additional forces being sent from North Korea to support the occupiers in the Russo-Ukrainian war. The president emphasized that there will be "significant responses" to these actions.
"Currently, according to preliminary data, the number of killed and wounded North Korean military personnel in Kursk has already surpassed 3000," – stated Volodymyr Zelensky.
It is worth noting that on December 23, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that North Korea is preparing to deploy additional troops in Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine. Furthermore, North Korea is ready to supply Russia with drones and is already providing the aggressor country with 240-mm multiple launch rocket systems and 170-mm self-propelled artillery. At the same time, the agency, citing South Korean intelligence, reported only about 1100 casualties of North Korean soldiers in Russia.
Additionally, it should be highlighted that Russia is actively attempting to conceal the presence of North Korean soldiers by issuing them fake documents and burning the faces of deceased North Koreans to prevent their identities from being established. Despite Russian efforts, on December 14, Volodymyr Zelensky officially confirmed the involvement of North Korean soldiers in assaults in the Kursk region.
