On the night of Thursday, January 9, Russian occupiers launched another strike against Ukraine using drones. In total, the Russians fired 70 drones, attacking nine regions, reported the press service of the Air Forces of Ukraine.
From 19:30, the occupiers struck with 70 Shahed kamikaze drones and imitation UAVs. According to the Air Forces, the Russians attacked from the areas of Russian Millerovo, Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
“As of 09:00, 46 Shahed type strike UAVs and drones of other types have been confirmed shot down in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions,” the press service of the Air Forces reported.
Another 24 Russian imitation drones were locally lost. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, as well as electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the enemy attack.
The press service of the Air Forces added that there was damage due to the debris of the UAVs. As a result of the Russian attack, private houses were damaged in Cherkasy, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov, two people were injured in the Berestyn district – a 42-year-old and a 67-year-old woman. They refused hospitalization.
