A four-month-old boy tragically lost his life in a car accident in the Ternopil region.

A fatal traffic accident occurred in the Kremenets district of the Ternopil region, resulting in the death of an infant. Two others were injured. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ternopil region.

The accident took place on Saturday, December 21, around 10:00 AM in the village of Staryi Pochaiv. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 32-year-old driver of a Chrysler Raw Van lost control on a curved section of the road and crashed into concrete slabs.

As a result of the accident, the driver and his wife sustained injuries. Their four-month-old son, who was also in the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The authorities are considering the possibility of adding details of the accident to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of a victim). If the driver's guilt is proven, he could face a prison sentence of up to eight years. Currently, police are establishing all circumstances surrounding the accident.

It is worth noting that at the end of October, a six-month-old boy from Rivne region died in a traffic accident in the village of Yakivtsi in Volyn. Two others, including a 9-year-old child, were injured.
