A furniture manufacturer in Transcarpathia will hire 160 workers from Bangladesh.

A furniture manufacturer in Transcarpathia plans to employ 160 workers from Bangladesh, announced the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Myroslav Biletsky.

The subsidiary company "Lamella" has been operating in the town of Tyachiv in the Transcarpathian region since 2001 and is 100% owned by the Estonian company "Himbalt Trade". In the early 2000s, "Lamella" was a small workshop producing furniture components. Today, it is a large furniture manufacturer, with products exported to European countries.

Due to the expansion of production capacities, there is a shortage of labor at the enterprise. As a result, the administration of "Lamella" intends to hire 160 new employees from Bangladesh.

"Currently, 430 people are employed here, and with the increase in production capacity, there are 700 job openings. The business, which has created all necessary conditions, procured equipment and materials, is in urgent need of workers and is looking for them abroad. The enterprise is negotiating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the employment of 160 individuals from the People's Republic of Bangladesh under labor contracts," wrote Myroslav Biletsky on Facebook after visiting "Lamella".

According to the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, the company has purchased a hotel, renovated it, and equipped it to meet the needs of the future long-term residents from Bangladesh.

Salary of 25,000 UAH and free meals do not attract local residents

Myroslav Biletsky also described the working conditions at the furniture factory in Tyachiv.

"Here, they care about the employees: free meals, transportation to the workplace within a 50 km radius, and the average salary is 25,000 UAH," stated the head of the regional administration.

"This is an important signal for the residents of Transcarpathia – our region is rapidly developing, and we have factories that need workers. There is no need to go to European countries – decent salaries and working conditions can be found at home," Biletsky added.

According to him, from 2022 to 2024, "Lamella" has paid over 182 million UAH in taxes and fees to budgets at all levels, including over 4.5 million UAH in military tax.

"Lamella" specializes in the production of furniture made from natural wood (from solid wood to finished products) and, according to information on its website, is the largest manufacturer of such furniture in Transcarpathia.

Its clients include major retailers, international chains, online stores, and niche furniture boutiques across Europe. "Lamella" is an official supplier of products for a trading company in the Baltic and Scandinavian countries – TM "Furniteco".

According to the Clarity Project, in 2023, "Lamella" increased its net profit by 95.3% compared to 2022, reaching 99.4 million UAH with a 10% increase in net revenue to 639.3 million UAH, and for the period of January to September 2024, profit increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2023, amounting to 92.3 million UAH, with revenue growing by 31% to 626.2 million UAH.

The ultimate beneficiary of "Himbalt Trade" LLC is Estonian resident Eduard Ovcharov. Himbalt Trade is a trading company specializing in the supply of petroleum products, petrochemical, and chemical products worldwide.
