Верховная Рада утвердила законопроект о военном учете 17-летних и женщин.

Members of the Verkhovna Rada have approved the government bill concerning the registration process for conscripts. This was announced on Thursday, January 9, by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

A total of 298 deputies voted for bill № 12076.

“The draft Law of Ukraine ‘On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine ‘On Military Duty and Military Service’ regarding the peculiarities of registering citizens of Ukraine as conscripts and their medical examinations during basic military training’ has been developed to legislatively address problematic issues related to the initial registration of citizens of Ukraine as conscripts, particularly concerning the medical examinations of such citizens,” states the explanatory note.

The document allows young men who turn 17 in the year of their registration to register in two ways:

  • by personally visiting the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support
  • by submitting registration information through an electronic cabinet, regardless of their location.

Furthermore, the draft law mandates a mandatory medical examination prior to practical training sessions for basic preparation.

According to Zheleznyak, the bill was passed with an amendment regarding female volunteers who wish to register as conscripts voluntarily. The text of the document emphasizes that the registration of women will be conducted exclusively on a voluntary basis.

For the bill to take effect, it must be signed by the Speaker of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Recall that on December 18, the Verkhovna Rada supported the creation of a Unified Register of Military Personnel. This establishes the implementation of a Military ID identifier, the formation of a legislative framework for the development of the ‘Army+’ application, the provision of electronic services to military personnel and their families, and the establishment of a unified database of military personnel.
