The United Kingdom will allocate over 5 million euros for the investigation of war crimes in Ukraine.

Every day, law enforcement officials document between 200 and 300 crimes committed by Russians against Ukraine.

The UK Ministry of Defence will allocate £4.5 million (approximately €5.4 million) for the investigation of war crimes in Ukraine. Part of the funds will be received by the Office of the Prosecutor General for documenting, investigating, and prosecuting war crimes committed in Ukraine. This was reported on Sunday, December 29, by Die Zeit, citing the British agency PA.

“The atrocities we have witnessed in Ukraine are horrifying. There can be no lasting peace without holding the guilty accountable, and the support from the UK will aid Ukraine in its quest for justice for the victims and survivors of these crimes,” said UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

The minister also assured that in 2025, the UK will continue to support Ukraine.

“We will stand with you in war, we will stand with you in peace, and we will stand with you as you fight for your security and the security of all Europe,” the minister emphasized.

UK Defence Secretary Jon Healey reminded that his country has pledged to allocate £3 billion to Ukraine in 2025 and beyond, so that Ukraine can “defend itself and restore its sovereignty, security, and freedom.”

Additionally, in September 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russians have committed at least 137,000 war crimes in Ukraine. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, Ukrainian law enforcement records an average of 200-300 new Russian crimes daily.
