Another child has died from poisoning caused by the death cap mushroom, who was visiting a large family from Ternopil region that suffered from mushroom poisoning at the end of October. The lives of three more children are being saved in the Kyiv hospital "Okhmatdyt." One child is in extremely critical condition, while the condition of the other two is stable, reported Oleg Hodik, a transplant surgeon, to ZAXID.NET on November 11.

The 13-year-old girl, Victoria Mykhalchuk, who was visiting a family from Kopychyntsi and also consumed wild mushrooms with them, has died from the poisoning. ZAXID.NET confirmed the child's death in a Kyiv hospital, as did the police in Ternopil region. The spokesperson for the Main Department of the National Police in Ternopil region, Serhiy Kreta, noted that an investigation is currently underway. No one has been charged yet. The children's mother is in the hospital in Kyiv with her children.

On November 11, the Kopychyntsi City Council stated that the deceased was “13-year-old Victoria Mykhalchuk, born on October 6, 2011, in the village of Bila, Chortkiv district. The girl died as a result of poisoning from wild mushrooms while visiting the Mykulski family.”

Additionally, on November 2, a two-year-old child died in a Lviv hospital after consuming mushrooms. A 59-year-old man, who collected, cooked, and fed mushrooms to the children, died from poisoning caused by the death cap mushroom.

Recall that on October 30, eight children aged between three and thirteen were admitted to the intensive care unit of the Ternopil Regional Children's Hospital due to mushroom poisoning, seven of whom were siblings, and one child was visiting this family. Two children were transferred from the Ternopil Regional Children's Hospital to the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv, while five others were sent to Kyiv's "Okhmatdyt." A man who collected and prepared the mushrooms was also hospitalized due to poisoning. The cause of the poisoning was identified as the death cap mushroom.

Lviv hospitals tried to save a girl who was only 2 years and 8 months old. A donor was urgently found for her and she underwent a liver transplant. However, it was too late, as the child arrived at the hospital too late. According to the police in Ternopil region, the family consumed the mushrooms on October 27, and initially, the mother attempted to treat the poisoning at home. It was only when the children's condition became extremely critical that she sought medical help.

As reported by ZAXID.NET, the director of the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv, Ivan Miskiv, stated that the condition of another child receiving treatment in Lviv is stable. The child has been moved from the intensive care unit to a regular ward.

Furthermore, law enforcement in Ternopil region has opened a case regarding the mass poisoning of children by mushrooms due to gross negligence in child care. The sanctions for this offense can lead to up to five years of imprisonment.
