The government has approved the plan for implementing the Maritime Security Strategy, according to Umierov.

Among the tasks are the de-occupation of temporarily occupied coastal territories and obtaining compensation for losses inflicted by Russia.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the plan for implementing the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine developed by the Ministry of Defense.

Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov reported this.

“This is an important step towards strengthening our country's maritime security. The document aims to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks and objectives outlined in the Strategy, which was approved by the National Security and Defense Council and enacted by the Presidential Decree,” the statement reads.

The main tasks of the plan include:

  • Enhancing the capabilities of Ukraine's security and defense sector, the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces, and the Marine Guard of the State Border Guard Service to counter aggression and respond to other threats to maritime security;
  • De-occupation of temporarily occupied coastal territories, internal waters, and Ukraine's continental shelf;
  • Receiving compensation for losses inflicted by the aggressor and restoring maritime and river infrastructure damaged as a result of the war.

Background. Previously, Mind reported that in July, Zelensky enacted the decision of the National Security Council regarding the new Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine. The document envisions the buildup of security and defense forces and attracting investments for the development of shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises in Ukraine and other partner countries.
