UKRPOSHTA has increased the number of international shipments this year to 36 million in both export and import directions. This marks a 41% rise compared to last year’s 25.5 million.
Director of the International Operations Department at UKRPOSHTA, Yulia Pavlenko, shared this information in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
Imports dominate: since the beginning of 2024, 32 million parcels have been delivered to Ukraine. These primarily consist of goods from foreign marketplaces, particularly from China, which Ukrainians can purchase at lower prices than in Ukraine.
“Exports are fewer, but of course, they are more valuable to us, as they involve the sale of products from Ukrainian manufacturers in foreign markets. Most of these are handmade,” said Pavlenko. According to her, Ukraine is currently the ninth country in terms of sales volume on the largest handmade platform in the USA. Already, 38,000 Ukrainians have opened their own stores on Etsy.
UKRPOSHTA is developing educational programs for representatives of small and medium-sized businesses who wish to sell products on foreign marketplaces. The UA Etsy Global Start program, implemented in partnership with USAID, is nearing completion and provides a $500,000 grant for the best beginner entrepreneurs on Etsy.
Simultaneously, a program for SMEs was implemented with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), financially supported by the government of Japan. Within this framework, training for small exporters at the Sustainable Business Academy was offered free of charge to entrepreneurs.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that UKRPOSHTA is in negotiations with the United States Postal Service (USPS) – the agreement will allow Ukrainians to order goods from Amazon and other global marketplaces.
