Due to the massive Russian shelling of Ukraine and damage to the energy infrastructure, on November 17, "Ukrenergo" implemented power outage schedules for all regions of Ukraine. The outages will occur simultaneously for two shifts, as reported by the press service of "Ukrenergo".
The outages will be in effect from 06:00 to 22:00 on Monday, November 18. Measures to limit consumption will be conducted for two shifts of outages simultaneously.
“The reason for the temporary return of restrictions is the damage to energy facilities during today’s massive missile and drone attack. Energy workers are working to eliminate the consequences of the accident to restore the equipment damaged by the enemy as soon as possible,” – reported the press service of "Ukrenergo".
The company urged consumers to use electricity sparingly and not to turn on several high-power appliances at the same time to avoid overloading the grid. The press service of "Ukrenergo" did not specify whether the outage schedules would continue throughout the following week.
It is worth noting that Lvivoblenergo has already published the outage schedules for November 18 for Lviv and the region. You can view them here. Additionally, see the outage schedules for November 18 in:
Furthermore, the IAEA reported that as a result of Russian attacks on November 17, several substations, which Ukrainian nuclear power plants depend on, were damaged. This led to a decrease in electricity production, which also influenced the implementation of outage schedules. According to the IAEA, only two of the nine operational reactors in the country are producing electricity at 100% capacity. The other six have reduced production to a level of 40-90%.
