Svetlana Grinchuk strengthened warm relations by holding a series of meetings with partners focused on environmental protection.

The UN Climate Conference COP29 presents an opportunity for Ukraine to deepen existing partnerships in environmental protection, establish new connections, and find new allies.

Austria, Romania, Lithuania, Moldova, the USA, Japan – this is by no means an exhaustive list of partner countries with which we discussed environmental security issues during my time at the UN Climate Conference.

We talked about the impact of the war on the environment, the "green" recovery of Ukraine, Eurointegration, cross-border projects, and reforms.

During a working meeting with Leonore Gewessler, the Federal Minister for Climate of the Republic of Austria, we updated our countries' progress under the memorandum of understanding between our ministries, as well as the prospects for developing environmental control in Ukraine.

With Romania's Minister of Environment Mircea Fechet, we discussed our Eurointegration commitments under the Espoo Convention, as well as measures to achieve good status for our common water artery – the Danube.

With Lithuania's Minister of Environment Simonas Gentvilas, we exchanged views on Eurointegration and our countries' experiences in this process. We touched upon the reform of the forestry sector and the protected natural areas.

Additionally, I participated alongside ministers and other representatives from participating countries in a meeting of the umbrella group coordinating the agenda for COP29. This group includes the USA, Canada, the UK, Norway, Japan, Iceland, New Zealand, and Australia. A brief meeting took place during the session, particularly with New Zealand's Minister of Environment Nick Smith and Japan's Minister of Environment Keiichiro Asao.
