В Венесуэле арестовали украинцев по подозрению в подготовке теракта.

Three Ukrainians were part of a group of foreign mercenaries who allegedly planned terrorist acts ahead of President Nicolás Maduro's inauguration. This was reported by the EFE agency on Tuesday, January 7.

On January 7, seven foreign mercenaries were arrested in Venezuela. Among them were two individuals from the United States, two from Colombia, and three from Ukraine. Authorities claim that those detained were planning attacks on Vice President and Minister of Hydrocarbons Delcy Rodríguez. They also intended to carry out terrorist acts against government officials and other leaders of the Bolivarian Revolution.

Maduro accused the Argentine government of being involved in the plot against Rodríguez. According to him, the group of mercenaries is an addition to the 125 individuals of 25 nationalities who were detained in November and December.

It is noteworthy that Maduro will take the oath for his third six-year term as president on Friday, January 10.

Additionally, in the American city of New Orleans, Louisiana, a pickup truck plowed into a crowd ahead of New Year celebrations. The incident occurred in the French Quarter of the city, specifically on Bourbon Street—a popular spot among tourists celebrating the New Year. As a result of the incident, 15 people were killed and 30 were injured.
