In the center of Warsaw, a man in a car hit a woman and then assaulted her after a confrontation. Reportedly, police advised the victim against reporting the incident because she used a pepper spray. This was reported by the TVP3 Warszawa channel on Friday, January 3.

It is noted that the victim, Anna, is originally from Ukraine and has been living in Poland since 2018. After completing her studies, the young woman got a job as a sales assistant in a store.

According to media reports, the incident occurred at one of Warsaw's parking lots on Smolna Street on December 29. Anna stated that she was standing in the parking lot, talking on the phone with her boyfriend when a car unexpectedly crashed into her. After the collision, the driver exited the vehicle, pushed the girl, and then struck her in the face.

“Before that, he insulted me because he didn’t like my accent. He said that I was Ukrainian and should go back to Russia,” Anna recounted.

Eyewitnesses recorded a video showing a tall man approaching the girl, leading to a verbal altercation, after which the Ukrainian woman used pepper spray. She sprayed him in the back and stepped away. The man then kicked her in the lower back while she was still on the phone. The blow was so strong that it knocked her shoes off.

According to a witness, Anna's boyfriend likely intervened later, arriving at the scene to defend her. To protect herself, the woman used the spray again when the driver pursued them.

Later, the victim decided to contact the police, but the officers discouraged her from doing so.

“They said I would have problems because I used the spray. And he could also file a complaint against me. But in the end, I used the spray out of fear and stress; I was only thinking about how to protect myself,” the girl explained.

In a statement, the police said that none of the participants in the altercation had filed an official report, but law enforcement had already obtained footage from surveillance cameras and taken other necessary measures to clarify the circumstances of the case. They also noted that the officers informed the woman of her rights, but she allegedly refused to file a complaint.

“After analyzing the video, we established that the whole situation started from a dispute over a parking space. The woman was trying to reserve it for her partner, who was in the car. Then another driver appeared, attempting to take the spot. She was the first to use the spray, and only after that did the events unfold as seen in the video circulating online,” a police officer said in a conversation with journalists.
