On November 4, the SpaceX-31 rocket was launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida, carrying an experimental sample from a microgravity research project by students Victoria Kavchak and Victoria Batko from Skole Secondary School of I-III degrees No. 2 named after Stefania Vitruk. The press service of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine reported that the students are involved in the Small Academy of Sciences and are winners of the All-Ukrainian School Space Experiments Competition SSEP.
“The team's experiment is titled 'Obtaining Biomedical Hydrogels in Microgravity Conditions.' This is the third time that the project from the students of the Small Academy of Sciences has gone to space,” – reported the Ministry of Education and Science.
In a comment to “Suspilne,” students Victoria Kavchak and Victoria Batko, who worked on the project for several months, shared that they conducted experiments in the laboratory of Lviv Polytechnic. They created a mini-laboratory with experimental substances.
“We chose hydrogels specifically because they are actively used in Ukraine due to the war. They can help stop bleeding and heal various wounds,” – said Victoria Kavchak.
Victoria Batko added that astronauts will study their hydrogels on the International Space Station.
