On the evening of Sunday, December 22, a fatal road accident occurred on the highway connecting Lviv – Sambir – Uzhhorod in the city of Sambir. As a result of a collision with a bus, the driver of a Mercedes car lost his life. This was reported by the police of the Lviv region.
According to preliminary findings by law enforcement, a Mercedes passenger car, driven by a 31-year-old resident of Sambir, collided with a BAZ "Etalon" minibus operated by a 59-year-old local from one of the villages in the area. Following the collision, the driver of the car succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, while his 35-year-old passenger and the 65-year-old passenger of the bus sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

In connection with the accident, investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation by individuals managing vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanctions for this article include a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, along with a ban on driving for up to three years or without such a ban. The police are determining the circumstances of the incident.
