Residents of Ryazan reported a fire near a fuel depot that had already been burning a few days prior. The attack on the region was confirmed by Governor Pavel Malkov on the night of Sunday, January 26.
According to the governor, the air defense forces successfully engaged, destroying the drones.
«The air defense and electronic warfare systems eliminated unmanned aerial vehicles over the territory of the Ryazan region. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, and material damage is being assessed. All emergency services are operational», – Malkov stated.
The Russian Telegram channel Astra reported that a fire occurred near the Ryazan Oil Refinery.

«After the attack, it appears that the Ryazan Oil Refinery is on fire again – this is evidenced by footage from eyewitnesses circulating online. This marks the second attack on the refinery in the past two days», – the post notes.

Later, the General Staff confirmed that units of the UAV forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine struck the facilities of the Ryazan Oil Refinery, which is involved in supporting the Russian occupying army. Explosions and fires were recorded.
«The Ryazan Oil Refinery is among the top four largest refineries in the Russian Federation. The enterprise, in particular, produces diesel fuel and TS-1 jet fuel», – the statement noted.
It is worth mentioning that the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of 121 UAVs on the night of Friday, January 24. The drone attacks targeted the oil refinery and a facility producing microelectronics for Russian missile systems. Significant fires broke out in the vicinity of the Ryazan Oil Refinery and the Novo-Ryazan Thermal Power Plant.
