On Wednesday, November 13, in the city of Radekhiv, Lviv region, a DAF truck driver fatally struck a 39-year-old pedestrian and fled the scene of the accident. The police managed to track down the culprit.
According to the Lviv police, the accident occurred on November 13 at 6:10 PM on Myshuhy Street in Radekhiv, Sheptytskyi district. The driver of the vehicle collided with a 39-year-old local resident and fled the scene. As a result of the accident, the victim died.
After reviewing footage from the "Safe Lviv" surveillance system, the police determined that the hit-and-run was committed by a 31-year-old resident of Ternopil region driving the DAF truck. He was apprehended in one of the villages of the Sheptytskyi district. The truck involved in the incident was confiscated for investigation.
Following the fatal accident, investigators initiated a criminal proceeding under part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator faces imprisonment for a term of three to eight years and a three-year ban on driving vehicles.
