The Prague police conducted a raid on the Orion nightclub in the historic Žižkov district during the night of Sunday, November 10. Local residents have repeatedly complained about the popular nightlife spot among Ukrainians due to disturbances in public order, reports the Czech publication Novinky.
It was noted that following a customs raid on Friday, police also visited the club on Saturday evening. During the inspection, the police blocked the entrance to the club from the street, checking the passengers of cars that had just arrived or were about to leave. About 30 law enforcement officers were inside the club.
Club visitors were released after their documents were checked. If someone did not have their documents, they were verified by foreign police. Most of the club's visitors were Ukrainian citizens, primarily young people. The Czech police stated that they checked over 100 visitors in total.
“The police detained two foreigners who did not have their documents, and it was not possible to establish their identities on the spot. Therefore, they were taken to the foreign police office,” – said police spokeswoman Eva Kropachova.
Additionally, the police discovered two 17-year-old girls in a state of intoxication. They were handed over to their parents, and the child protection agency was notified.
The publication notes that the Orion club in Žižkov operates twice a week, on Fridays and Saturdays, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Posts on the club's pages are published in Ukrainian, and its owner is a Ukrainian citizen, Oleksandr Petrovich.
In recent weeks, Prague media have reported issues with visitors to the Orion club, and local residents of Žižkov even drafted a petition urging authorities to intervene and restore order. Czechs complained that the club's visitors allegedly behaved inappropriately: engaging in drunken fights, attacking with baseball bats, and damaging parked cars nearby.
