In Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, rescuers recovered the bodies of two women from the rubble of a destroyed house. They lost their lives as a result of a Russian shelling with KAB bombs. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv region and the State Emergency Service.
According to investigators, on Sunday, January 26, Russian military forces carried out several air strikes on the residential sector in Kupiansk. As a result of the attack, an 86-year-old woman was injured. She was hospitalized with an explosive injury and a fractured left shoulder. Additionally, at least 50 residential houses were damaged.
On Monday morning, January 27, emergency services completed rescue operations. They retrieved the bodies of two women aged 95 and 62 from the debris.
The local prosecutor's office has initiated pre-trial investigations into the commission of war crimes (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Furthermore, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, reported that over the course of a day, Russian forces conducted 11 attacks in the Kupiansk direction. Defense forces repelled assault actions by the occupiers near Stepova Novoselivka, Kolysnykivka, Hlushkivka, and Zahryzove.
It is worth noting that on Sunday, January 26, Russians struck Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region. As a result of the shelling, one woman was killed, and four others were injured.
