In Khmelnytskyi, a municipal official is suspected of embezzling 927,000 UAH.

The suspect handed over the institution's generator to unidentified individuals.

In Khmelnytskyi, the head of a department at one of the municipal enterprises has been charged with the misappropriation of property amounting to nearly 1 million UAH. He faces up to 12 years in prison for this offense. This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office on December 31.

According to the investigation, in 2023, the municipal enterprise of the Khmelnytskyi City Council signed a contract with a company to purchase three diesel generators. During the annual inventory check, specialists discovered a shortage of a generator valued at over 927 thousand UAH, which was on the balance of the state institution.

“During the pre-trial investigation, it was determined that a 35-year-old employee of the municipal institution decided to misappropriate entrusted property by unlawfully transferring the generator to third parties,”state law enforcement officials.

The 35-year-old official has been charged under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation of another's property through abuse of office during martial law in especially large amounts). The penalty for this article ranges from 7 to 12 years of imprisonment.
