The GUR responded to Fico, who accused the "Georgian Legion" of being involved in the protests.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine rejects false accusations regarding the organization of "protests in Slovakia aimed at preparing for a coup" in the Slovak Republic.

This is stated in the announcement by the GUR MO concerning the untrue allegations made by the Slovak authorities against the Georgian Legion.

The GUR carefully examined the allegations, as hybrid and informational operations aimed at destabilizing the situation in European countries, sowing discord both within states and among European partners, pose an extremely serious threat to Ukraine, which, with the support of the civilized world, is heroically resisting Russian armed aggression, the statement notes.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine officially states that there is no unit called "Georgian National Legion" within its structure.

As for the International Legion of the GUR, it is a multinational active operations unit that directly participates in battles against Russian troops in the hottest areas of the front and, of course, does not conduct any hybrid actions on the territory of EU member states.

"Regarding the individual mentioned at the press conference, they are not a Ukrainian serviceman, have no relation to Ukrainian intelligence, and do not receive any tasks or assignments from the GUR MO of Ukraine. This individual terminated their contract with the International Legion of the GUR MO of Ukraine back in April 2023 and has not renewed it," the intelligence agency noted.

The GUR also emphasizes that it maintains constant contact and cooperation with colleagues from NATO countries, adheres to the principles of honorable cooperation and partnership, and always works for the benefit of collective security and addressing the challenges posed to European countries by the full-scale war unleashed by Russia, particularly the informational component of Russian aggression.

"European politicians must be as responsible as possible for their words, especially for accusations against friendly countries, so as not to provide any grounds for hostile propaganda," the GUR stated.

The agency stresses that it is Russia that continually attempts to sow discord among the countries of the free world, discredits European politicians, interferes in democratic elections, organizes street lawlessness, and even carries out political assassinations on the territory of Europe.

Recall that on January 31, 2025, Slovak officials accused the Main Intelligence Directorate during a press conference: allegedly, servicemen from the "subordinate" GUR Georgian National Legion were involved in organizing protests in Slovakia with the aim of preparing for a coup.
