Trump received an "unconditional release" in the case concerning hush money paid to a porn actress.

He once again referred to the case as a "political witch hunt."
Трамп получил "безусловное освобождение" по делу о выплате порноактрисе за молчание.

A U.S. court has issued a verdict of "unconditional release" for elected President Donald Trump in a case related to the payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels for her silence during the 2016 presidential election.

This was reported by CNN.

Trump attended the hearing online, likely from his mansion in Mar-a-Lago. The verdict pertains to allegations of business fraud connected to this payment.

The ruling means that Trump will retain a formal conviction, but he will not face incarceration, fines, or probation.

Judge Juan Merchan, while delivering the verdict, emphasized that although the aggravating circumstances of the case are known, the "extraordinary legal protection" afforded to the office of the president is a decisive factor in this matter.

He also noted that this protection does not lessen the seriousness of the crime nor justify it.

“Ordinary citizens do not receive such legal protection. It is the presidency that grants it to the official. It is the citizens of this country who recently decided that you should again enjoy the benefits of this protection,” the judge remarked.

Trump once again asserted that he is “absolutely innocent” and “did nothing wrong,” labeling the case a “political witch hunt.”
