Трамп официально назначил Кита Келлога своим специальным представителем по Украине и России.

On February 3, U.S. President Donald Trump officially appointed retired General Keith Kellogg as special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, as reported by Voice of America.

“We have made significant progress regarding Russian-Ukrainian relations,” Trump stated after signing the decree, without providing further details.

Previously, Kellogg served as the executive secretary and chief of staff for the U.S. National Security Council during Trump’s first administration and was a chief advisor to then Vice President Mike Pence.

He was scheduled to visit Ukraine in January following Trump’s election victory, prior to the inauguration, but the trip was postponed for legal reasons.

Kellogg praised Trump’s willingness to engage with Putin, calling former President Joe Biden’s refusal to work with him “the biggest mistake.”

The Trump special envoy stated that he believes the new U.S. president could act as a mediator in reaching an agreement satisfactory to both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On February 1, Kellogg told Reuters that the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine, postponed since the beginning of the full-scale war, “must be held.” He argued that holding elections during wartime would strengthen Ukrainian democracy.

Kellogg also suggested using frozen Russian assets to purchase American weapons for Ukraine, as reported by Fox News on January 24.

Recently, Zelensky emphasized the need for a diplomatic resolution to the war by 2025, suggesting that a Trump administration could expedite this process.

Kellogg identified the “closest” end to the war within 100 days of the inauguration and stated that his personal and professional goal is to assist Trump in finding a solution during this timeframe.

Background. Recall that the President's Office commented on the U.S. demand to hold elections in Ukraine, calling it a “failing plan.”
