The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that he will not invite former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo to join his new administration.
"I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join the Trump administration that is currently being formed," – wrote he on his page on the social network Truth.
He added that he greatly values his previous collaboration with them and thanked them for their service to the country.
During the election campaign, Mike Pompeo in a column for the WSJ advocated for a significant increase in military aid to Ukraine, believing it would compel Putin to end the war. Among other things, he discussed real sanctions against Russia, creating a $500 billion lend-lease program for weapons for Ukraine, lifting all restrictions on receiving and using weapons, and Ukraine's accession to NATO.
Nikki Haley, who intended to run as a Republican candidate, advocated for continued support for Ukraine in its war against Russia and emphasized the need to remind the American people that Putin cannot be trusted.
At the same time, one of the candidates for the position of Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration is Mike Rogers, a strong proponent of providing aid to Ukraine.
He opposes misinformation about the misuse of U.S. military aid and emphasizes that most of the funds allocated to aid Ukraine are directed towards high-skilled jobs across America.
Furthermore, he highlights that this sends a signal to China.
"I want to assure my colleagues that there has been no evidence of misuse of the weapons provided to Ukraine. Most people do not understand that the money the Department of Defense (U.S.) spends on Ukraine actually goes towards creating high-skilled and well-paying jobs right here at home. This includes tasks from A to Z in the production of 'Stingers' and 'Javelins'. Jobs in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri for ammunition production. Jobs in Texas, Florida, Alabama for producing Patriot missiles. Armament factories in Tennessee, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia. Equally important for deterring China is honoring our commitments to Ukraine. Straying from this will send the wrong signals to President Xi and the Communist Party of China," – he stated.
