A 48-year-old woman from Sumy offered Lviv border guards a bribe of $3,000 to facilitate the illegal exit of a conscripted man with forged documents. This incident occurred at the "Rava-Ruska" border crossing. The State Border Guard Service reported this on Monday, November 18.
The man accompanying the woman is one of her close relatives. The reason for the man's departure included a medical commission conclusion and a care establishment act for the woman. However, during passport control, the border guards had doubts about the authenticity of the documents. After speaking with the border guards, the woman admitted that the documents were fake. She revealed that the document package cost her $8,000, which also included detailed instructions on how to behave with the border guards and what to say. Additionally, she was given guidelines regarding her "illness" and the medications she allegedly takes.
The border guards informed the 48-year-old woman from Sumy that the man, who was supposedly her caregiver, would not be allowed to cross the border. Nevertheless, she attempted to bribe the border guards with $3,000. The military personnel rejected the unlawful offer and instead reported the criminal offenses to the National Police under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – Article 358 "Forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and blanks, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps" and Article 369 "Offering, promising, or providing an unlawful benefit to a public official."
