The court has delivered a verdict for the gang members who attacked a businessman in Sykhiv.

The Sykhiv District Court has sentenced two gang members who attacked a local currency trader in Sykhiv in 2020, stealing money from him and attempting to flee. Dmytro Alekseyev received an 11-year prison sentence, while his accomplice Dmytro Myroshnychenko was sentenced to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to case materials, Dmytro Myroshnychenko, Dmytro Alekseyev, and Dmytro Bartosh, whose proceedings have been suspended, attacked a local currency trader near the "Shuvar" market in Sykhiv on June 9, 2020, and stole 3.7 million UAH from him. They were armed with an illegally obtained homemade knuckle duster.

After the attack, the robbers attempted to escape, but police apprehended them on Hotkevych Street. At that time, the police reported that the gang members were suspected of committing a series of armed robberies. All of them were local residents, one of whom had previously been convicted of a serious crime. During the arrest, the criminals resisted law enforcement and tried to flee.

In court, Dmytro Myroshnychenko and Dmytro Alekseyev refused to testify. The victim currency trader stated that he had arrived at the market that day with borrowed money from friends to start his own business. He forgave the attackers and withdrew his lawsuit against them.

Considering the circumstances of the case, Sykhiv Judge Olena Timchenko found Dmytro Alekseyev guilty under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 4 of Article 187, and Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, sentencing him to a total of 11 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Dmytro Myroshnychenko received 9 years with confiscation of all assets. This verdict can be appealed.
