The Sykhiv District Court of Lviv has issued a verdict for hooliganism against a local resident who set off fireworks on New Year's Eve in Sykhiv. The court imposed a penalty of 17,000 UAH in fines.
On the evening of December 31, 2024, residents of Lviv complained on social media about unknown individuals setting off fireworks in Sykhiv. Photos and videos showed that a firework box was placed on Chervonoi Kalyny Avenue, near the Avalon Up residential complex. Later, the police reported that they had identified the violator through their surveillance system, revealing her to be a 37-year-old woman from Lviv, leading to the initiation of a criminal case against her.
During the state of martial law in Ukraine, the sale and use of pyrotechnic materials are prohibited. Violators face both administrative and criminal liability.
In court, the accused Natalia Ruda-Pysyk admitted her guilt and explained that she was aware of the ban on setting off fireworks during martial law, but "she was tempted by her children's pleas to launch a salute."
This case was presided over by Judge Olena Horban, who reviewed all the evidence and found the Lviv resident guilty of hooliganism, imposing a fine of 17,000 UAH. The verdict can still be appealed.
