UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, attending the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, addressed the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 1000th day of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
"On the 1000th day of Russia's illegal war in Ukraine, I say once again: end the war. Leave Ukraine," said Starmer, as reported by PA news agency.
He also pointed out that Putin did not attend the G20 summit.
"For the third consecutive year, Putin is absent from the summit. He is the architect of his own exile," Starmer stated.
This year, as in previous ones, Russia was represented at the G20 summit by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Commenting on Putin's signing of changes to Russia's nuclear doctrine, the British Prime Minister emphasized that "this irresponsible rhetoric coming from Russia will not deter us from supporting Ukraine."
Background. It is worth noting that earlier The Telegraph reported that Prime Minister Keir Starmer is preparing to pressure US President Joe Biden to provide Ukraine with a $20 billion loan during the G20 summit in Brazil next week.
