This year, the state has allocated more than half of the national budget expenditures for defense. Thanks to investments from both the government and the private sector, the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry have increased sixfold.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported this information.
“Over 800 state and private companies are operating in the defense sector. More than a thousand types of weapons and equipment have been approved for use, with half of them being produced in Ukraine,” Shmyhal added.
At the same time, domestic products account for over 96% in the drone segment. Through the "Army of Drones" project, the government has purchased more than 1.2 million drones.
“Ukraine manufactures more self-propelled artillery systems than any country in the free world. The missile program has made significant progress, and Ukrainian long-range weapons have been developed,” the head of the government stated.
Furthermore, as the Prime Minister reported, the so-called Danish model for loading the Ukrainian defense industry has been implemented. This means that partners are assisting Ukraine by purchasing weapons from Ukrainian enterprises. According to Shmyhal, nearly $1 billion has been raised.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the Cabinet allocated 9.6 billion UAH from the military income tax to the defense forces for the procurement of weapons and equipment. The funds were allocated to implement the law on redirecting the "military" tax to the state budget.
