As a result of a missile strike on Lgov in the Kursk region on December 30, 2024, two Russian lieutenant colonels, Valery Tereshchenko and Pavel Maletsky, lost their lives. This was reported by the "Militarny" portal, citing the propaganda Telegram channel "Officers' Hockey League" on Sunday, January 5.
It is noted that Valery Tereshchenko was a lieutenant colonel in the 76th Pskov Airborne Division, with some of its units stationed in the Kursk direction. At the time of the strike, he was in Lgov, which was likely a permanent deployment and command point from where operations were organized and coordinated.
"While stationed at the new headquarters in the city of Lgov in the Kursk region, the division came under missile fire. Eight members of the division's leadership were killed, and 22 sustained injuries," the report states.
According to the source, Tereshchenko had been directly involved in the war against Ukraine since October 2022.
Together with Valery Tereshchenko, lieutenant colonel Pavel Maletsky also died during the missile strike on the permanent deployment point in Lgov. He was the commander of the 656th engineering battalion of the 76th Pskov Airborne Division.
According to the DeepState project, Lgov is located approximately 30 km from the territory controlled by the Defense Forces in the Kursk region.
Additionally, this is not the first instance of the Defense Forces striking Russian command points in Kursk. On January 2, the Defense Forces carried out a missile strike on a command post of Russian troops in the village of Maryino in the Kursk region. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, reported that the strike caused significant losses to the military of the Sevastopol 810th Marine Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia.
