The command of the UAV Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the use of a long-range drone capable of carrying a 250-kilogram aerial bomb. Additionally, the UAV can cover distances of up to 2000 km and return. This was reported on the Facebook page of the command on January 31.
Ukrainian military officials emphasize that this is a “unique development that changes the rules of the game on the battlefield.”
“Russian propaganda continuously claims the ‘downing’ of such aircraft, but the explosions at defense industry facilities, oil refineries, and ammunition depots tell a different story. Operators of the 14th Separate UAV Regiment have been striking deep behind enemy lines for over a year, covering hundreds, and sometimes thousands of kilometers. There have already been dozens of such missions, and there will be more,” the post states.
The command added that most operations of the UAV Forces are not subject to public disclosure; however, they deliver critical strikes on the strategic military infrastructure of the enemy.
It is worth noting that on the night of January 30, as a result of a UAV attack, the oil pumping station “Novozibkov” of the “Druzhba” pipeline in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation caught fire. At that time, the OSINT channel “Cyber Flour” reported that the region was being “bombed” by the 14th Separate Regiment of UAVs. This regiment is the only unit in the world that operates with almost all existing types of unmanned aerial systems.
