The Security Service of Ukraine has announced suspicions against the leadership of a chemical company in Cherkasy. The individuals involved are suspected of circumventing the ban on the export of Ukrainian products to the Russian Federation.
This is stated in a press release from the SBU.
According to the investigation, representatives of the Ukrainian chemical plant established wholesale supplies of fertilizers and minerals for the agricultural sector of the Russian Federation.
It has been established that between 2022 and 2024, the dealers illegally exported their products to Russia, amounting to $1.8 million. According to the SBU, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the suspects have shipped over 216 tons of chemical products to Russian enterprises.
It is clarified that for the covert transportation to Russia, the suspects used an affiliated company in the Middle East. Documentation shows that the products were initially sent to a Middle Eastern “intermediary,” from where they were re-exported to Russia.
The SBU's statement mentions that among the key Russian customers were some of the largest companies in the aggressor country's agro-industrial complex, namely “Shcholkovo Agrokhim” and “Alterit.”
The investigators found that to discuss illegal supplies and continue their underground business, the organizers used anonymous chats in messengers and email.
As noted, during searches at the workplaces and residences of the suspects, documentation, mobile phones, and computer equipment with evidence of the scheme were discovered.
The Security Service has informed the head of the Cherkasy company of the suspicion. The investigation is ongoing to hold all participants in the scheme accountable. The perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the SBU uncovered Ukrainian companies supplying microchips for Russian missiles and drones. These companies are part of a large international corporation.
Before this, the SBU exposed a Dnipro firm that helped Russians build nuclear laboratories. To conceal international shipments, the dealers initially sent the goods to a controlled company in the Middle East.
