The European Union will provide Ukraine with financial assistance amounting to 35 billion euros in 2025.
Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis announced this information.
The funds will be allocated under two key programs: the G7 ERA credit initiative and the multiannual Ukraine Facility program.
Valdis Dombrovskis also shared a photo from his meeting with Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. During the negotiations, the parties discussed the expansion of economic cooperation and steps towards integrating Ukraine into the EU Single Market.
The Ukraine Facility program plans to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine from 2024 to 2027. Of this amount, 39 billion euros will be directed to the state budget to ensure macro-financial stability.
The remaining funds will be used as an investment tool, including risk coverage in priority sectors, financing interest on loans, and other measures.
Background. It is worth noting that, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Finance, the funds will be directed to meet the state budget needs in 2025 and 2026.
The EU's Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) noted that the EU has been the largest donor of direct budget support since February 2022. According to him, during this period, the European Union has allocated approximately 45 billion euros to finance priority state budget expenditures.
In 2024, EU budget assistance accounted for over 40% of all external revenues for Ukraine, totaling 16.1 billion euros.
