The President's Office may have facilitated the lifting of the arrest on one of Ukraine's largest chemical enterprises, "Karpatnaftokhim," in exchange for a free share in the company. This is reported in an investigation by "Ukrainska Pravda."
Back in August 2022, law enforcement suspected "Karpatnaftokhim" of transferring over 5 billion hryvnias to Russia through intermediary firms. As a result, the company's corporate rights and real estate were seized. The enterprise was to be handed over to the management of ARMA, but this has yet to happen after 14 months.
Subsequently, the court lifted the arrest on "Karpatnaftokhim," and in 2023, Andriy Vesely became a co-owner of one of Ukraine's largest petrochemical and chemical production complexes. "Ukrainska Pravda," citing sources in the tax service, reports that over 20 years, he officially earned 1 million 874 thousand hryvnias and received another 2 million 281 thousand hryvnias as an individual entrepreneur.
Journalists located his brother, Vasyl Vesely, in Kyiv. The filming crew recorded his vehicle entering the government quarter several times a week for a month. According to sources in business circles, Vasyl Vesely, who has never had any connection to the banking sector, was appointed as an advisor to the head of "Sens Bank," which was nationalized due to direct ties with Russia. Sources in the business community refer to him as the state's "watchman" over this bank.
“UP asked Vasyl Vesely whether he indeed received a “thank you” in the form of oversight over “Sens Bank” for providing his brother – Andriy Vesely – as a front for the free transfer of a stake in one of the country's largest chemical enterprises in the interests of the President's Office,” the material states.
Vasyl Vesely denied any connections with the President's Office and stated that he visits the government quarter because he lives there. According to him, he works at "Sens Bank" on a voluntary basis, and his brother supposedly bought his share in "Karpatnaftokhim" with his own money.
The publication emphasizes that Andriy Vesely refused to disclose details about the purchase of his stake in "Karpatnaftokhim." Andriy Yermak, head of the President's Office, has yet to respond to UP's inquiry. Meanwhile, the Office of the Prosecutor General noted that investigative actions are ongoing in the "Karpatnaftokhim" case.
In June, it was reported that entrepreneur Andriy Vesely from Drohobych joined the ranks of co-owners of "Karpatnaftokhim" in Kalush, replacing the Dutch company Karpaty Chemical B.V.
Andriy Vesely is an entrepreneur from Drohobych, owner of the company "Braty," which specializes in the production of paving stones. In 2020, he was a candidate for the position of mayor of Drohobych and advanced to the second round but lost to Taras Kuchma.
